HOMESCHOOL PICTURE POST

HOMESCHOOL GRACE

This week I have been tough week pain wise.. as a result I have had to do homeschool while lying down on the couch and the kids bring the books or work to me.. this has concerned them a bit. Yesterday again I said I needed to lie down and as I moved from wheel chair to couch Grace was so concerned as she saw me move slow and moan a little so she gets close to me and pats my shoulder and tells me how sorry she is that that I'm hurting.. I assure her it's ok, it only hurts sometimes when the weather is cold..
GRACE: you need Jesus to make you better so you can give your chair to someone else
ME: Yes baby girl, I am believing God to touch my body and make it better
GRACE:.. (without hesitating.. lays her hand on my forehead and closes her eyes) Jesus please make Ms Mary Ann better so she doesn't need to sit in her wheel chair.. amen.
AUSTIN: In Jesus name Amen.. it's very important Grace that we say that, right Teacher?
Me: Thank you Grace.. yes it's good to know there is Power in the name of Jesus, but God know's and hears your prayers no matter how you say them.

I then moved my leg and the pain in my hip made me go "OW"
GRACE: (again lays hand on my forehead) And Jesus help her legs not to get cramps.. IN JESUS' NAME, AMEN (ha ha.. too cute)

Neill at this time was at his desk working on his books... but had he been right there he would have been praying too...

I just love these kids...

AFRAID OF MATH TESTS

Last week 2 of my students had to take a math test.. so I was preparing them for it.. We went over things they needed to know and I wanted to make sure they remembered everything before taking the test.
ME: See here you have to do everything on this page, both front and back
Austin & Grace: look worried as they stare at the pages before them.
ME: Don't worry, you know all this... it's easy
GRACE: in a small worried voice.. "what are those little numbers for?"
ME: That shows you how many points you get for each one you answer correctly.
Austin & Grace:eyes wide open.. sitting up with excitement.. "WHAT??? WE GET POINTS...????
AUSTIN: Did u hear that Grace? We get points!!! and look how many.. lots of them!!!"
Grace: can we do it now? Can we do it now?!!!
AUSTIN & GRACE: ... and what do we win????

ME:.. uhhh.. welll????... uhh you win a prize  ?

then they grab their books and off they go to do math tests...

THEY BOTH GOT 100% on their tests..... now I gotta find prizes!!!!

HE'S "MY" GOD!

My granddaughter is 4, and not actually in our homeschool per say, but she is here some days. She has recently discovered "fighting" and I am finding myself more often defending my students from her fighting words... recently Grace had a spelling word review. She had to write a sentence using at least two of her spelling words. She chose "Jesus & God". After she wrote her sentence she read it out loud to no one in particular but to her self
GRACE: Jesus is my God.
Aaralyn: (giving Grace a mad face)... NO! He's "MY" God, Grace.. He's MY God!!! (then comes running to me all upset, and almost in tears).. Grandma.. Gracie said Jesus is her God, but HE'S "MY" GOD!!!
ME: No, He is "our" God.... now you quit giving Gracie "mad face" and talking mean to her!!!
Aaralyn... (the next few days.. several times a day) He's "OUR" God right Grandma? My God and Gracie's God, and Neill's and Austin's.. and even Warren's God right?
Ha Ha.. I think she was repeating it over and over in an attempt to face the fact that she HAD to share her God.. with the other kids!

Meet My Students

PLEASANTON HOMESCHOOLERS

AMBER: Amber is in the 8th grade. She is good at math, but has a hard time reading and writing... it's not her favorite thing to do as far as school work but she tries and as we work together I believe she will improve.
She's my first student this year and the oldest.. she "MY OLDER GIRL"

SAMMY: Sammy is in the 7th grade doesn't ever get to come, only on rare occasions so he's doing school on his own, BUT he joined our group and I still consider him a part of our group, so I always include his name in things we do.  He loves math and science. He has a hard time with reading and writing, and if I can do anything with him, it would be to help him become a better reader and writer. He's "MY MIA BOY"

WARREN: Warren is my newest student. He is in the 4th grade and arrived with no books.  I'm anxious for his parents to get him the books he needs. In the mean time he is sharing school books with his cousin.  He does not quite understand what homeschooling is about but he is learning fast. He's "MY NEW BOY"

NEILL: Neill is in the 3rd grad.  As the oldest of 3 siblings he jumps in to help when he sees them struggling.  He is smart and loves learning.  He does not like it if he does not  understand his school work, so when it is made clear to him, he really gets excited about it. I call him "MY SMART BOY"

AUSTIN; Austin is slow in his work, many times it is because he wants to add so much detail. If I ask everyone to draw a house for instance, he will add a lot of detail, He loves anything we do in school and is always the loudest one cheering when I introduce something new. Most of the time he memorizes things quicker than the rest.  Austin is in the 2nd grade.  He loves eating, loves lunch time or snack time and is always asking when it's time to eat.  I call him "MY HUNGRY BOY"

GRACE: Grace is in the 1st grade. She never complains when it's time to do work. She's always ready and willing. When ever she draws or colors a picture, she always wants to give it away to, me or to Principal Boyd and loves a show of affection. She is always asking for water or a water break from the time she arrives to the time she leaves.  I call her "MY THIRSTY GIRL"

AARALYN: Aaralyn is not officially in school.  She is my granddaughter and is with me a lot of the time so I include her in our school.  She is just 4 but loves the idea of being a part of our Pleasanton Homeschoolers group.  She likes to call me teacher instead of Grandma because she hears the others call me that.  I call her "MY BABY GIRL"
